The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its fourth installment of the regional rankings this week with the North Central College women's cross country squad ranking eighth within the Midwest Region.

There was little shake-up in the top 10 as Washington University in Saint Louis remained the top ranked squad within the region. UW-La Crosse maintained its number two ranking while UW-Oshkosh rose to third at the expense of UW-Eau Claire, who dropped one spot to fourth. The University of Chicago rounded out the top five while North Central was eighth as the top ranking College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin school. CCIW rivals Wheaton College and Illinois Wesleyan University ranked ninth and 10th, respectively.

North Central placed second at last weekend's Forester Invitational as four Cardinals placed among the top ten. Maggie Lapinski paced the team, finishing third overall, clocking a 19:29 for the 5,000 meter course.

The Cardinals return to action on Friday, October 2, heading up to Colfax, Wis. for the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational.
