Nov. 15, 2009 – North Central College women's cross country runners Lauren Hooks and Amanda Laesch have qualified as individuals for the 2009 NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championships.
Hooks placed 19th and Laesch was 20th at the Division III Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday in Winnecone, Wis. They are among seven individuals to qualify for the championships from the Midwest Region, joining Jenny Scherer of St. Norbert College (Wis.), Megan O'Grady from Carroll College (Wis.), Kerry Devitt of Illinois Wesleyan University, Mary Kate Beyer of Monmouth College (Ill.) and Jennifer Parisi of Wheaton College (Ill.)
Team qualifiers from the Midwest Region included the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Washington University (Mo.), the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Hooks, who also was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Freshman of the Year this season, and Laesch swill take to the course at Highland Hills Golf Course in Cleveland, Ohio, on Saturday. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Eastern time.
