Nov. 18, 2009 - The North Central College wrestling team has moved up one spot to ninth in the most recent NCAA Division III national rankings, released Wednesday by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

The Cardinals, who have opened the season with a 4-1 dual-meet record, were 10th in the preseason rankings released on Oct. 27. North Central has been idle since a 20-19 loss to the eighth-ranked NCAA Division II team in the nation, St. Cloud State University (Minn.), at the Northwestern University Duals on Saturday.

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse remains the top-ranked team in the nation. College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin rival Elmhurst College is ranked 13th.

The NWCA also released updated individual rankings at each weight class. North Central's Gabe Youel continues to hold the No. 2 spot at 184 pounds, behind Phil Moenkedick of Concordia College-Moorhead (Minn.) Youel is also rated second at 184 in the most recent individual rankings released by D3wrestle.com.

North Central hosts the University of Chicago Wednesday night at Gregory Arena. Action is scheduled to get under way at 7 p.m. Live results will be available by clicking on the Live Stats link on the schedule entry for the match.
