Day One Results
WHEATON, Ill. (Feb. 19, 2009)- The North Central College men's swimming program is tied for sixth place after day one of competition at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships hosted by Wheaton College at the Chrouser Natatorium.
The Cardinals accumulated 52 points through five events, tied for sixth with Augustana College. Carthage College leads the competition with 309 points while host Wheaton College is a distant second at 182.
Tyler Hsieh (Fr., Naperville, Ill./Central) finished seventh in the 50 yard freestyle, recording the team's lone top 10 individual finish of the day. Hsieh swam a 21.95 in the prelims while shaving off .05 seconds off his time in the finals, clocking a 21.90.
In the relays,
Tim Patula (Fr., Burbank, Ill./Reavis),
Quincy Simon (So., Chattanooga, Tenn./McCallie) and
Brian Hummer (Fr., West Chicago, Ill./West Chicago) teamed up with Hsieh, turning in a pair of seventh place finishes in the relays. The team clocked a 1:33.81 in the 200 free relay, while in the 400 medley relay, the team swam a 3:50.15. Both times were season best performances for the Cardinals.
Action continues today in Wheaton with preliminaries beginning at 10:30 a.m. with the 400 individual medley while the finals begin at 6 p.m. with the 200 medley relay.
