Mar. 18, 2009 - North Central College student-athletes
Josh Delancy and
Joe Norton are among 187 NCAA Division III representatives selected to attend the 2009 NCAA National Student-Athlete Development Conference, to be held May 24-27 at the Walt Disney World Coronado Spring Resort in Orlando, Fla.
The pair were among more than 2,000 applicants for the conference, which will include approximately 600 student-athletes from the NCAA's three divisions. Held annually, the Student-Athlete Development Conference provides NCAA student-athletes with a forum to openly discuss issues that may affect them on their campuses and in their communities, while also providing them with the opportunity to enhance their leadership, communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
The conference also promotes better communication among student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty and communities. The four-day conference consists of daily team sessions, exercises, speakers and activities to help the student-athletes develop as individuals and as contributing members to society.
Delancy, a junior athletic training major from Stuart, Fla., is the starting right tackle on North Central's football team. He has been a First Team All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin selection in each of the past two seasons. Norton, a junior sport management major, from Carol Stream, Ill., placed third at this season's Great Lakes Regional Wrestling Championships in the 125-pound weight class.
Delancy and Norton are among just five CCIW student-athletes selected to attend this year's conference.
