All-Region Teams
Mar. 18, 2009 - North Central College men's basketball player
Chris Drennan has been honored as one of 15 players to be selected to the 2008-2009 D3hoops.com All-Midwest Region Teams.
Drennan, who was the Cardinals' leading scorer and rebounder this season, was one of five players selected to the All-Midwest Region Third Team, joining John Hoch of Carroll College (Wis.), John Grotberg of Grinnell College (Iowa), Joey Verax of Transylvania University (Ky.), and Anthony Pettaway of Defiance College (Ohio).
Drennan totaled 16.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season, while shooting a team-high 56.9 percent from the floor in leading the Cardinals to a 16-10 finish and an appearance in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tournament. He ranked fifth in the CCIW in scoring and rebounding, while ranking eighth in field-goal percentage and 10th in free-throw percentage (.826). He was voted to the All-CCIW First Team, making him a two-time recipient of all-conference honors.
He became North Central's 21st 1,000-point scorer on Feb. 11 at Carthage College (Wis.), and finished his career ranked 18th in school history in scoring with 1,065 points.
Midwest Region Player of the Year Kent Raymond of Wheaton College (Ill.) headlined the All-Region First Team, and was joined by Steve Djurickovic of Carthage, Aaron Thompson of Washington University (Mo.), Brian Fogerty of Fontbonne University (Mo.), and Brent Ruch of Elmhurst College (Ill.)
The All-Region Second Team consisted of Sean Wallis and Tyler Nading of Washington, Andy Wiele of Wheaton, Ryan Kroeger of Lawrence University (Wis.) and Andy Horton of Beloit College (Wis.)
D3hoops.com has selected All-Region Teams for the past seven seasons. Drennan is the third North Central player to be so honored.
