MARIETTA, Ohio (May 23, 2009)-- Brandye Jackson became North Central College's second All-American of the weekend as the women's track and field squad concluded the three-day NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships 18th in the team tally.
In the 100m hurdle finals, Jackson clocked a 14.48 to place sixth, improving on her qualifying time and earning All-American honors for the third time in her career. It was her first outdoor All-American designation as her previous two came in the 55 meter hurdles at the Indoor Championships.
The only other Cardinal in action on Saturday was
Michelle Criscione, who finished 23rd in the high jump after clearing 5 feet 2 1/2 inches.
On Friday,
Rachel Secrest became the college's 101st national champion after winning the pole vault, clearing 13 feet 2 1/4 inches, setting the meet record in the process.
Wartburg College (Iowa) scored 52 points to edge out UW-Oshkosh to win the National Championship. Oshkosh tallied 50 points while fellow Wisconsin schools UW-La Crosse and UW-Eau Claire rounded out the top four with 48 and 34.5 points, respectively. North Central's 13 points tied for 18th in the team count with Bethel University (Minn.) as they finished second among College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin institutions. Illinois Wesleyan University was seventh with 24 points.
