Michael Corrigan,
Matt Abraham, and
Joe Turek have been honored with selections to the 2009 NCAA Division III All-Central Region Teams, as selected by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
The ABCA, which released its selections on Wednesday, listed Corrigan on the All-Region Second Team at catcher, while Abraham and Turek were named to the Third Team at the outfield and designated hitter positions, respectively.
Corrigan batted .338 this season, leading the team in runs scored (34) and runs batted in (34) and tying for the team lead in home runs (5). He recorded multiple hits in 14 games, multiple RBI in 10 contests, and shared the team lead in batting average (.347) in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin games.
Abraham finished the season as the Cardinals' leader in batting average, hitting .403 and finishing the season with a 17-game hitting streak. He drove in 23 runs and tied for the team lead in doubles (12). Turek, who hit .393 as a freshman, matched Abraham's 12 doubles and tied Corrigan for the team lead in home runs while recording 26 runs batted in.
North Central finished the season with an overall record of 11-25-1, which included a 7-13-1 mark in CCIW competition.
