Women's Tennis Routs Rams, 8-1

The North Central College women's tennis squad capped off a busy weekend with a dominating, 8-1, non-conference dual match victory over Cornell College (Iowa) at Ranchview Park.

The Cardinals opened the match strong, winning all three doubles matches. North Central's No. 1 tandem of Cory Schillerstrom and Alicia DeGrado posted the 8-4 win over the Rams' Caryl Abeyta and Kirsten Lasley while in No. 2 action, Elizabeth Michelletti and Allison Paschold edged past Alyssa Zavislak and Kara Middleton, 8-6. Abigail Conover and Jessica Ignarski rolled to the 8-2 win at No. 3 to complete the sweep.

In singles, Schillerstrom and Michelletti picked up indentical, 7-5, 6-4, wins playing at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, respectively. At No. 4, Paschold need three sets to defeat Zavislak, 6-2, 5-7, 10-7, while Conover and Ignarski rolled to wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots.

With the win, North Central improves to 8-2 overall while the Rams fall to 4-7. It was the team's third match of the weekend after facing both Augustana College and Wheaton College on Saturday. The Cardinals return to court on Tuesday, facing Mount Mary College in a non-conference dual at Ranchview Park.
