Women's Golf Fifth at Elmhurst

OAK BROOK, Ill. (Sept. 22, 2009) -
The North Central College women's golf team posted a top-five team finish for the fourth time this fall on Tuesday, finishing fifth in the Elmhurst College Bluejay Classic at Oak Brook Golf Club.

The Cardinals had three golfers place in the top 20 and finished with a team score of 356. Lewis University, the only NCAA Division II team in the tournament, placed first with a score of 326, seven strokes ahead of runner-up Wheaton College.

Lewis' Liz Zimmer and Allison Snyder tied for first-place honors, each firing a score of 81. North Central's Alyssa Gaudio was just one stroke behind, finishing in a five-way tie for fourth place. Marisa Miko was 12th individually with a score of 85, Mallory Carr was 17th with an 86, and Sarah Martin completed the Cardinals' scoring with a 103.

North Central travels to Deer Creek Golf Club in Clayton, Ind., on Saturday and Sunday for the DePauw University Small College Classic. Play will begin at noon (ET) on Saturday and 8:30 am (ET) on Sunday.
