DUBUQUE, Iowa (Sept. 29, 2009) -
Facing drastically different conditions from the first round to the second, the North Central College men's golf team placed fourth out of 10 teams in its first two-day event of the season, the Bishop's Buffet Invitational, hosted by the University of Dubuque on Sunday and Monday.

The Cardinals sat in second place after the first round, carding at team total of 321. Colder, more blustery conditions prevailed during Monday's second round, and nearly all the teams in the field posted much higher scores. North Central carded a round of 351 to finish with 672, two strokes behind third-place finisher Knox College. Mount Mercy College (Iowa) won the event with a total of 655.

Joshua Branter was the top individual finisher for the Cardinals, placing sixth with a score of 161, while Nick Guido was ninth with 162. Cole Oosthuizen and Matt Grennell# each shot 179 to tie for 40th overall.

North Central travels to Red Tail Run Golf Club in Decatur, Ill., on Friday and Saturday for the Millikin University Big Blue Fall Classic.
