NORTH CHICAGO, Ill. (Sept. 5, 2009) - Paced by an outstanding individual effort by freshman
Marisa Miko, the North Central College women's golf team managed a fourth-place finish at the Robert Morris University Fall Classic.
Miko's 18-hole score of 76 at Foss Park Golf Course was the best by any player in the field, giving a North Central golfer low medalist honors for the second straight tournament. She bettered second-place finisher Gianna Tenuta of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater by one stroke.
As a team, the Cardinals turned in a score of 336. College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin rival Carthage College placed first overall with a total of 330, while the University of St. Francis (Ill.) and Wheaton College tied for second place with 335.
Alyssa Gaudio placed 12th individually, carding an 83,
Mallory Carr finished 20th with 87, and
Jessica Struthers finished 26th with 90.
North Central hosts its lone home event of the fall season, the Cardinal Classic, on Tuesday at Cress Creek Country Club in Naperville. The first groups are set to tee off at 12:30 p.m.
