Cardinals Place Seventh at Home Tournament

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Sept. 8, 2009) -
The North Central College women's golf team hosted its lone event of the fall season on Tuesday, turning in a seventh-place finish in the Cardinal Classic at Cress Creek Country Club.

The Cardinals turned in a team score of 392 in the 18-hole event. Wheaton College won the tournament with a score of 350, five strokes better than the runner-up finisher, the University of St. Francis (Ill.)

Wheaton also swept the top two spots in the individual standings, as Brittany Bronson placed first with 83 and Casi Blanton placed second with 85. North Central's top finisher, Marisa Miko, placed third with a score of 86.

Alyssa Gaudio finished 17th overall with a total of 92. Melissa Rosenberg, playing as an individual, shot a 95, while Jennifer Koonce finished 45th (105) and Jessica Struthers placed 53rd (109).

The Cardinals travel to The Medalist Golf Course in Marshall, Mich. for the Olivet College Fall Classic on Friday and Saturday. Play is set to begin at 2 p.m. local time on Friday and 8:30 a.m. local time on Saturday.
