CHICAGO (Jan. 16, 2010) -- The North Central College women's swimming team returned to the pool after almost a month layoff, finishing 11th at the two-day University of Chicago Invitational held at the Ratner Athletics Center.
Katie Stratton highlighted the team's efforts, finishing sixth in the 100 yard breaststroke in season-best time of 1:11.99. In the 100 yard backstroke,
Kelsey Tumpane shaved off over one second off her previous season-best time, finishing 11th in 1:07.10 while also placing seventh in the 200 butterfly, clocking a 2:26.81.
Host University of Chicago won the meet, edging runner-up Calvin College (Mich.) by 38 points. The Cardinals amassed 31 points, finishing four-points shy of 10th place Robert Morris University-Chicago.
North Central returns to action next Saturday, making the short trip to Glen Ellyn, Ill. to face host College of DuPage and RMU-Chicago in a triangular.
