Jan. 4, 2010 - The North Central College wrestling team is ranked 10th among NCAA Division III programs this week by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

The Cardinals (10-4) last competed as a team at the Wartburg College Desert Duals on Dec. 20, where they finished with two wins in four matches. North Central lost to ninth-ranked Concordia College (Minn.), 20-14, and third-ranked Coe College, 30-7, before defeating Pacific University (Ore.), 35-6, and Grand View College (Iowa), 19-16.

The Cardinals are one of two College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin teams to be ranked in the top 10. Elmhurst College (6-2) sits eighth in this week's poll.

North Central also has three wrestlers ranked in the NWCA's Individual Top 10. Johnny Starzyk and Gabe Youel are ranked third at 141 and 184 pounds, respectively, while Nathan Fitzenreider is ranked sixth at 133.

The Cardinals travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa, to participate in the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals on Friday and Saturday.
