NCAA Division III Playoffs Bracket

Nov. 14, 2010 -
The North Central College football team has been selected as one of four No. 1 seeds for the upcoming NCAA Division III Football Championships, as the 32-team field was unveiled by the NCAA on Sunday.

The Cardinals (10-0), who secured outright possession of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championship on Saturday with a 61-7 victory over North Park University, will open the tournament by hosting eighth-seeded St. Norbert College (Wis.) this coming Saturday at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.

The Green Knights (7-3) are the champions of the Midwest Conference, turning in a 7-2 record in conference play. St. Norbert last appeared in the playoffs in 2007, while the Cardinals' most recent postseason appearance was in 2008. The two teams have never met on the gridiron.

A win would place the Cardinals in a second-round matchup against either fourth-seeded Ohio Northern University (9-1) or fifth-seeded Wittenberg University (10-0). The other side of North Central's bracket features third-seeded DePauw University (9-1) against sixth-seeded Trine University (10-0) and the No. 2 seed, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (10-0), against the No. 7 seed, Franklin College (9-1).

The other three No. 1 seeds were Wesley College (Del.), the University of Mount Union (Ohio) and the University of St. Thomas (Minn.)

Kickoff for all NCAA Division III playoff games will be at noon local time.

Information regarding ticket sales will be made public on Monday.
