Dec. 11, 2010-- The North Central College wrestling team tallied three individual champions on Saturday, finishing fifth at the 47th annual North Central College Invitational inside Gregory Arena.

24th-ranked North Central finished fifth at the 10-team invitational after amassing 105 points in the team standings, falling 1 1/2 points shy of fourth place finisher and College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin nemesis Augustana College. Seventh-ranked Concordia College (Minn.) claimed the team title, ending the Cardinals' three-year reign as the Cobbers tallied 145.5 points to edge runner-up Olivet College (Mich.) by 1 1/2 points.

Andrew Zobac highlighted the day for the Cardinals, winning the 141-pound weight class and earning the invitational's Outstanding Wrestler honor. Seeded third, Zobac took down second seeded Kenneth Richmond of Olivet by major decision, 14-1, in the semi-finals before pinning top-seeded Vince Tucker of Olivet in the championship, finishing the afternoon 4-0 and improving his record to 18-1 on the season.

At the 133 weight class, Nathan Fitzenreider continued to remain unbeaten on the year, claiming the individual title with a 9-3 victory over University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Allen Fish. The sophomore, ranked fourth nationally, ups his season record to 11-0.

Greg Schroeder was the third Cardinal to emerge with an individual title on Saturday, winning five matches to secure the crown at 165.

Finishing second at 197 pounds was Andrew Bradley, falling 8-2 to Concordia's Nathan Schmitz while Joby Bodi placed third at 157, downing Wabash College's (Ind.) Graham Youngs, 3-2, in the consolation final. The Cardinals additionally recorded a pair of fifth place finishes from Billy Malone at 184 and Jason Bonham at 165.

North Central returns to the mat on Saturday, Dec. 18, hosting the NCC Quadrangular with action slated to begin at 9 a.m. inside Gregory Arena.
