Jan. 30, 2010-- Kelsey Tumpane swam to three first place finishes as the North Central College women's swimming team sent a partial squad to the College of DuPage Quad Meet on Saturday.
Tumpane raced to the victory in the 400-yard individual medley, winning by almost a 10-second margin after clocking a 5:08.97. The sophomore would follow up that performance by placing first in the 200-yard butterfly, cruising to the victory in 2:26.41. Tumpane's third victory of the afternoon would come in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 2:32.42 while also recording a third place showing in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:50.84).
Ali Sanders recorded a pair of top four performances, finishing third in the 50-yard freestyle (27.68) and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.83).
No team scores were kept at the meet involving swimmers from North Central, Monmouth College, Robert Morris University-Chicago and the host Chaparrels.
The Cardinals return to the pool on Saturday, February 6, traveling downstate to Bloomington, Ill. where they will face off against Wheaton College and host Illinois Wesleyan University in a triangular competition.
