Feb. 12, 2010-- The North Central College women's swimming team won five events but it was not enough, falling 74-68 to Wheaton College in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin dual meet at the Merner Field House Pool.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Katie Kruse, Kelsey Tumpane, Ali Sanders and Katie Stratton led off the dual with a victory, edging the Thunder after touching the wall in 2:02.22.

Katie Kruse captured the Cardinals' second victory of the afternoon, cruising to the win in the 200-yard individual medley, clocking a 2:31.18.

The Cardinals claimed back-to-back victories in the 100-yard backstroke and the 500-yard freestyle, with Katie Stratton claiming the 100 back in 1:04.00 while Kelsey Tumpane followed suit with a triumph in the 500 in a season-best time of 5:50.53. Stratton claimed her second victory of the day in the 200-yard breaststroke, hitting the wall in 2:38.69.

Samantha Lent swam to a runner-up finish in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in 1:19.81 while Tumpane placed second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:12.19).

North Central returns to the pool on Thursday, Feb. 18 for day one of the three-day CCIW Championships hosted by Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis.
