Feb. 3, 2010-- North Central College women's track & field squad is 12th in this week's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings, released Wednesday.

College Conference of Illinois Wisconsin-rival Illinois Wesleyan University sits atop the rankings for the third straight week, accumulating 167.62 points. University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is second (114.42) while Massachusetts Institute of Technology (93.88) is third, jumping up 13 spots in the rankings. North Central received 63.76 points while conference foe Carthage College is ranked 25th with 29.43 points.

This is the first year that the USTFCCCA has utilized its new formula for compiling rankings, which utilizes the NCAA Division III Indoor National performance list and assigns points to up to 30 athletes in each event. The purpose of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of excelling at the national championships.

Last Friday at the NCC Triangular, the Cardinals won eight events and recorded two provisional qualifiers, winning the meet by a 31-point margin for their third straight victory of the season. North Central returns to action on Saturday, February 6, heading up to Whitewater, Wis. for the Warhawk Classic.
