GREENCASTLE, Ind. (Mar. 11, 2010)-- Jake Winder needed just two vaults to claim his second straight National Title in the pole vault, clearing 16 feet 9 1/2 inches, Friday morning at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships at the James A. Hollensteiner Track.

Winder entered the competition at 16'5 1/2" after the field of 12 was whittled down to just seven athletes. The senior cleared the height on his first attempt and was the only athlete to clear 16'9 1/2", earning his second indoor National Title and his third indoor All-American honor.

Also finishing as All-Americans were Thomas Stacey, John Wood and Peter Geraghty, placing third, fifth and eighth respectively. Stacey missed his first attempt at opening height before soaring over the next two heights on his first try. The freshman cleared 16'5 1/2" on his second attempt, placing third on the tiebreaker. Wood earned All-American honors at the Indoor Championships for the second straight season, after vaulting 16'1 3/4", finishing fifth. Geraghty rounded out the Cardinal contingent in the vault, clearing 15'7 3/4", finishing in a three-way tie for eighth place with no misses.

North Central holds the early lead in the team standings, racking up 20.33 points in the event.
