Day One Results
GREENCASTLE, Ind. (Mar. 11, 2010)-- The North Central College women's track & field squad had three athletes in action in day one of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships at DePauw University's James A. Hollensteiner Track.
Brandye Jackson highlighted the team's efforts, finishing 10th in the 55-meter hurdles. The junior crossing the finish line in 8.41, placing fifth in her preliminary heat. Her time was just one-tenth of a second shy of advancing to the finals.
In the 400-meters,
Lauren Brightmore placed third in her preliminary heat, finishing the two-lap race in 57.82. Her time was good for 12th place as she was unable to advance to Saturday's final.
Michelle Criscione was the Cardinals' lone representative in the field events, clearing 5 feet 3 1/4 inches to finish in a tie for 13th. The junior cleared opening height on her first attempt before clearing 5'3 1/4" on her third and final attempt.
Competition resumes tomorrow at 9 a.m. (Eastern) with
Melissa Savino in the pentathlon while
Rachel Secrest will look to defend her pole vault crown at 10 a.m. (Eastern).
