NWCA Division III Scholar All-America Selections

Cowan Brown and
Nathan Fitzenreider have been honored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association for combining academic and athletic success, as both have earned the NWCA's Scholar All-America distinction for the 2009-2010 season.
To qualify for the honor, individuals were required to maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or better and win 67 percent or more of their matches, place at their conference tournament, or qualify for the national championships.
Brown, who wrestled at 174 pounds this season, went 29-9 overall and won his second straight College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin individual championship before placing third at the Great Lakes Regional to advance to the NCAA Division III National Championships for the first time. An exercise science major, Brown was also a Scholar All-America honoree last season.
Fitzenreider, who wrestled at 133 pounds, went 36-5 overall in his first full year of collegiate competition and won championships at both the CCIW and Great Lakes Regional Championships to qualify for the national tournament. He is a health and physical education major.
Brown and Fitzenreider were among eight CCIW wrestlers counted among the 145 Division III Scholar All-America selections this season.
The Cardinals won their third consecutive CCIW team title in 2010, qualifying four individuals for the national championships.
