Mar. 31, 2010-- The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin has named North Central College's Abigail Conover  the Women's Tennis Co-Player of the Week after opening up the spring season undefeated in singles play.

Conover opened up the spring slate with a, 6-1, 7-5, win over Calvin College's (Mich.) Michelle Busscher on Feb. 26 in Aurora before posting the convincing, 6-1, 6-0, victory over Mary Therese Lee of Saint Mary's College (Ind.) two days later as the Cardinals played their first ever match at the new indoor courts inside the Res-Rec Center. The junior continued her stellar singles play last weekend at the Hack Kellner Invitational host by the University of Illinois-Springfield, blanking Katherine Mabery of Lewis & Clark Community College (Ill.), 6-0, 6-0, before posting the victory over Rosanna Ramilo of Division II UI-Springfield, 6-1, 6-7, 10-5.

Conover has now won six straight singles matches and is 21-2 on the year, playing almost exclusively at the No. 5 position. She becomes the second Cardinal to claim Player of the Week honors this season, teammate Cory Schillerstrom captured the honor on Oct. 6.

The Cardinals (11-5) face Division I Western Illinois University in a dual match on Saturday, April 17 in Macomb, Ill.
