STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Mar. 6, 2010)-- The North Central College men's track & field team recorded a pair of provisional qualifying performances at Saturday's Pointer Last Chance Qualifier held at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's Multi-Activity Center.
The Cardinals' distance medley squad tallied a third place finish, shaving over four seconds off their previous best effort, clocking a provisionally qualifying time of 10:05.09. North Central closed out the meet with a fourth place showing in the 4x400-meter relay, crossing the finish line in a provisional qualifying time of 3:18.29.
Chris Kane raced to the win in the 5,000-meters, clocking a 14:56.28 while
Jon Biancardi finished fifth in the 800-meter run (1:56.81).
Matt Borchardt and
Zach Heerspink both cleared 6 feet 4 3/4 inches in the high jump, finishing in a seven-way tie for fifth place. Heerspink would additionally tally a sixth place showing in the long jump (22'1") while
Steven Stack placed third in the pole vault (14'10").
No team scores were kept at the meet which served as the final chance for athletes to qualify for the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships. The two-day Championships begin on Friday, March 12 at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.
