NCAA Division III Regional Baseball Rankings
May 13, 2010 - The North Central College baseball team has moved up one spot to second in the NCAA Division III Central Region Rankings, the third installment of which were released by the Division III Baseball Committee on Thursday.
The Cardinals (31-7), who clinched their first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championship since 1998 last weekend, continue to sit behind top-ranked Buena Vista University (26-11), but have moved past St. Norbert College (23-10) into the runner-up spot this week. St. Norbert has dropped one spot to third in the region.
CCIW rivals North Park University (27-13) and Carthage College (26-14) are fourth and fifth, respectively, in the region this week, followed by Webster University (30-9).
The regional rankings are one of the tools the Division III Baseball Committee uses to determine the field for the NCAA Championships, which begin May 19. The selections for this year's tournament will be posted on Monday.
The Cardinals host the CCIW Tournament this weekend at Zimmerman Stadium. North Central opens play on Friday against Illinois Wesleyan University (19-19) at 3 p.m. The champion of the tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
