D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 Poll
May 18, 2010 - The North Central College baseball team opens the 2010 NCAA Division III Central Region Championship ranked 25th in the D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Assocation Top 25 Poll, according to the most recent rankings released on Tuesday.
The Cardinals (31-9) have qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998, and will be one of 55 teams chasing one of the eight berths in the Division III College World Series in Grand Chute, Wis.
North Central received 44 points in this week's voting and is the only CCIW or Central Region team in the top 25. Johns Hopkins University (Md.), with an overall record of 39-4, received 20 of 25 first-place votes to take the top spot in the poll, while Heidelberg University (Ohio), with a record of 37-6, is ranked second and received one first-place vote. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (38-5) is ranked third, receiving four first-place votes.
The Cardinals will open the Central Region Championship against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.) at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
