Feb. 23, 2011 - North Central College head men's basketball coach
Todd Raridon has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Co-Coach of the Year for the 2010-2011 season.
Raridon, who shares the award with Augustana College coach Grey Giovanine, received the distinction after leading the Cardinals to a share of their first CCIW title since the 1989-90 campaign.
North Central finished the season with an overall record of 15-10 and an 11-3 effort in conference play to share first place in the CCIW standings with Augustana. The Cardinals will host the CCIW Tournament as its No. 1 seed for the first time since the event's inception in 2005, and Raridon becomes the first North Central coach to earn Coach of the Year honors since the CCIW began giving out the award for men's basketball in 2002.
In his seventh season as the Cardinals' head coach, Raridon owns an overall record of 106 wins and 74 losses. He ranks third in North Central history in coaching victories and ranks first among all Cardinal men's basketball coaches in winning percentage (.589). He led the Cardinals to a victory in the first CCIW Tournament and an appearance in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship in 2006.
North Central hosts the CCIW Tournament at Gregory Arena on Friday and Saturday. Augustana will play Wheaton in Friday's first semifinal at 5 p.m., with North Central to take on Illinois Wesleyan at 7:30. The championship game will be played on Saturday, also tipping off at 7:30.
