Apr. 14, 2011 - The National College Athlete Honor Society has announced that 38 North Central College student-athletes have qualified for induction this year.
In order to be considered for induction, student-athletes must maintain a minimum of a 3.4 cumulative grade-point average following their seventh term in school and received a varsity letter in their particular sport. The NCAHS was designed to recognize, to encourage, and reward high academic scholarship of college athletes at four-year accredited colleges and universities.
North Central College's new members will be inducted this spring on Honors Day, May 17 at 5:30 pm in the third-floor lounge at the Residence Hall/Recreation Center.
This year's inductees, listed according to their respective sports, are as follows:
Baseball: Blake Schmucker.
Men's Basketball: Tyler Bantz.
Men's Cross Country/Track & Field: Tim Lesiewicz,
Michael Matuszak.
Women's Cross Country/Track & Field: Sarah Ahn,
Colleen Burzynski,
Kirsten Coffman,
Kate Lueders,
Amy Schwent,
Alicia Zimmerman.
Football: Peter Bulandr,
Mike Giaquinto,
Scott Hogan,
Zach Sloan,
Derek Sulo,
Jordan Tassio,
Andy Trybula,
Nate Vandermyde,
Matt Wenger.
Men's Golf: Thomas Walker.
Women's Lacrosse: Caroline Gully.
Women's Lacrosse/Soccer: Amy Frazzini.
The 38 inductees rank as the second-highest total that North Central has had in a single year. 41 North Central student-athletes were inducted into NCAHS in 2008.
