Jan. 23, 2012 -   Since stepping onto the hardwood at Merner Field House for the first time in 2009, Jenny Swanson has not missed a single game for the North Central College women's basketball team.  As of the Cardinals' Jan. 21 game at Millikin University, Swanson has appeared in 67 games, cracking the starting lineup 50 times.

In her first season with Cardinals, Jenny averaged over 6.2 points and 2.0 rebounds per game for North Central.  The physical education major finished in double figures five times and established herself as a sharpshooter from the perimeter, ranking second on the team in three-pointers made and attempted.

As a sophomore, the 5'7" guard ranked third on the team in scoring at 8.9 points per game and led the team in three-point percentage (.352).  She also earned her first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week Award on Dec. 7 after hitting a game winning three-pointer with nine seconds left against the University  of Dubuque. 

So far this season, Jenny is averaging over eight points a game and has become one of the leaders on the team.  The junior ranks second in the CCIW in three-pointers made (2.12 per game) and eighth in three-point percentage (.387).

Q:How long have you been playing basketball?
A: I've been playing basketball since I was five years old.

Q: Who is your favorite basketball team/player?
A: My favorite team is the Miami Heat and my favorite player is LeBron James.

Q: What is the best advice you have received in regards to basketball?
A: Just to always do your best, try hard, and give 100% and it will never fail.

Q: What is your favorite thing about basketball?
A: I just love the thrill of the game.  Those moments when you're in the game and the crowd is pumped, you just get a feeling that you don't get anywhere else.

Q: What other sports have you played?
A: In high school I played volleyball, soccer, and track.

Q: Is there anyone else in your family that played or plays basketball?
A: My sister plays basketball, she's a senior in high school.

Q: What other sports on campus do you like to go and watch?
A: I like to go and watch the volleyball and football games.

Q: Do you have any pregame rituals?
A: I have a few, I eat a Snickers before every game and I have to drink my Arnold Palmer (laughs).

Q: What is your main goal both personally and team wise as you head into the latter part of the season?
A:Our goal as a team is to break into the top 4 in conference to we can get into the CCIW Tournament.  Personally, I just want to do my best to get my team over the hump.

Q: What is your favorite class you have taken so far at North Central?
A: Probably Child Development. That was really interesting.

Q: Who are your role models?
A: I would say Michael Jordan, and also my mom and dad because they're really motivated and they know how to get things done
