KENOSHA, Wis. (Feb. 18, 2012)-- Katie Stratton tallied a pair of individual titles, guiding the North Central College women's swimming team to a fourth place finish at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships inside Carthage College's Koenitzer Aquatic Center while the men's team placed seventh.

The women's team amassed 336 points in the team standings to secure fourth place, the Cardinals highest finish since the 2004 season. Wheaton College continued its hold of the top spot, winning its 15th straight conference crown with 899.5 points. Host Carthage was second (752.5) followed by Illinois Wesleyan University (750). Augustana College (298) was fifth, Millikin University was sixth (205) and Rose Hulman Institute of Technology was seventh (155).

Stratton opened the championships on Thursday with a runner-up showing in the 200-yard individual medley, touching the wall in 2 minutes 9.77 seconds. On Friday the senior captured her third consecutive CCIW crown in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking an NCAA Division III B-Cut and meet record time of 1:06.07. Stratton closed the championships on Saturday with her second title in as many days, prevailing in the 200-yard breaststroke for the third straight season, clocking a CCIW meet record and B-Cut standard time of 2:23.14.

Kelsey Truedson placed third in the 100-yard backstroke (59.25) while Kelsey Tumpane finished fifth in the 400-yard individual medley (4:43.75).

Cardinal relays tallied three fourth place showings, including the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:40.46), 400-yard medley relay (4:01.75) and the 200-yard medley relay (1:49.56).

On the men's side, the Cardinals placed seventh with 151 points, finishing three points shy of sixth place Millikin. Carthage captured the overall title for the fifth straight season with 920.5 points while Wheaton was runner-up with a team score of 886.5.

The 400-yard medley relay highlighted the North Central performances in the relays as Robb Showalter, Ross Artley, Jake Nurczyk and Neil Hummer collaborated to place fifth in 3:49.56 on Thursday night.

Artley placed ninth in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 55.65 with Showalter two spots back in 11th in 58.88. Showalter additionally placed 10th in the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.78) while Hummer swam to a ninth place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:03.53).
