2013 All-MWLC Teams
Apr. 22, 2013 - The North Central College women's lacrosse team has been honored with a school-record five selections to the All-Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) Teams for the 2013 season. This year's honorees were announced Monday.
North Central had three selections to the All-MWLC First Team in senior attacker
Danielle Fiala, junior defender
Rachael Houp and freshman midfielder
Gina Fisher, while senior attacker
Jacqui Morgan and freshman midfielder
Claire Norfleet were selected to the Second Team. Fisher was also voted the MWLC's Defensive Player of the Year, giving the Cardinals the award for the second straight year.
A starter in all 12 of the Cardinals' games this season, Fisher has already set North Central single-season records for ground balls (61) and caused turnovers (33) while also ranking second on the team in goals (26), assists (11) and draw controls (35). She ranks first in the MWLC and 11th nationally in ground balls per game (5.08) while also ranking first in the conference and 12th in Division III in caused turnovers per game (2.75).
Fiala, now a three-time All-MWLC honoree and a First Team selection for the second straight year, is North Central's career leader in goals scored (147), shots attempted (304) and draw controls (153). She is leading the Cardinals in scoring for the third straight year with 38 goals, and shares the team lead in assists (a school record-tying 12) with Norfleet. Fiala ranks second in the MWLC in goals per game (3.17).
Houp, a first-time All-MWLC selection, ranks second on the team in caused turnovers (16) and third in ground balls (25) while also scoring four goals. Morgan also earned First Team All-MWLC accolades in 2011 and is the Cardinals' all-time leader in assists (28) while ranking second to Fiala in goals scored (111). She has scored 26 goals on just 37 shots this season. Norfleet, in addition to sharing the team lead in assists, has a team-high 46 draw controls along with 17 goals. She ranks fourth in the MWLC in draw controls per game (3.83).
North Central (8-4, 5-1 MWLC) has already established a new school record for single-season victories with three games left in the regular season.
