NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Feb 6, 2014) —The North Central College swimming teams brought the action at home on Thursday in a dual against Wheaton College. The Cardinals honored each of their seniors on the team for their hard work and dedication over the years.
To kick off the meet, the women swam a 2:01.81 in the opening 200-yard medley relay consisting of
Julie Albright,
Kathleen Fultz,
Carolyn Masterton and
Mariana Cury. The men followed with a time of 1:55.25 with teammates
Robb Showalter,
Jacob Nesemeier,
Neil Hummer and
Tim Skladzien.
In the women's 200-yard individual medley,
Lauren Gorski secured second place at 2:36.01, followed by Masterton at 2:41.14.
Neil Hummer competed for the men and clocked in at 2:11.32.
Cury went on to place first in the women's 100-yard freestyle at 57.87 with
Melanie Mara entering in at third with a time of 1:15.22. Skladzien raced for the men and ended with a time of 1:13.78.
In the 100-yard breaststrokes,
Destinee Ganious timed in at 1:14.56 and Nesemeier gained a time of 1:13. In the 100-yard backstroke, Fultz and
Victoria Lynn tied for first for the women.
Showalter went on to compete for the men in the 100-yard backstroke, getting a time of 1:06.59. Albright swam for the women in the 200-yard backstroke making a time of 2:15.81.
For the 100-yard butterfly,
Loreli Patschke achieved second place with a time of 1:06.64 and Hummer swam a 2:05.63 in the 200-yard butterfly.
Patschke, Ganious, Gorski and Lynn wrapped things up for the women in the 200-yard freestyle gaining a time of 1:51.57. The men clocked in at 1:46.01 with swimmers Hummer, Nesemeier, Showalter, and
Mitchell Wood.
North Central travels to the CCIW Championships Feb. 13-15 in Pleasant Prairie, Wis. to end the season.
