Feb. 23, 2015 - North Central College senior forward Jack Burchett has been selected as the final College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the 2014-2015 season.
Burchett received the distinction for the second time this season after helping lead the Cardinals to a 82-72 victory over North Park University at Gregory Arena on Saturday. With North Central needing a win to advance to this weekend's CCIW Tournament, Burchett led the way with 21 points, 14 rebounds and two blocked shots in his final collegiate home game to send the Cardinals to the postseason for the fourth time in five seasons.
North Central players received five of the CCIW's 14 Player of the Week awards this season. Burchett was also tabbed for the honor on Jan. 5, as were Charles Rosenberg on Nov. 24 and Jan. 12 and Jayme Moten on Dec. 8.
The Cardinals (18-7) are the No. 4 seed in this year's CCIW Tournament and will play No. 1 seed and host Augustana College (21-4) on Friday at the Carver Center in Rock Island, with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. More information can be found on the CCIW's tournament webpage at cciw.org.
