WARRENVILLE, Ill. (Oct. 28, 2017) - The North Central College women's cross country team battled a wind chill of 32 degrees and took third in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship on Saturday at St. James Farm.
The Cardinals scored 93 points, with only Wheaton College (17) and Illinois Wesleyan University (59) finishing ahead of them. Following North Central was Carroll University (118), Augustana College (144), Carthage College (155), Millikin University (218), Elmhurst College (238), and North Park University (327). Wheaton's Hannah Roeske won the individual title, completing the 6,000-meter (3.7-mile) course in 22 minutes, 18.2 seconds.
North Central was paced by freshman
Madelyn Scopp (22:46.9) with an impressive seventh place finish in a competitive 60-woman field. Following her for the Cardinals was fellow freshman
Alexis Henz (22:56.4) in 12th place and senior
Allison Hartman (23:33.2) in 18th place. Rounding out the scoring for the Cardinals was
Allyson McLaughlin (23:50.7) and
Emma Jourdan (23:53.3) in 27th and 28th place, respectively. Scopp received First Team All-CCIW honors for her seventh-place finish and Henz and Hartman both receive Second Team All-CCIW honors for their performances.
The Cardinals are back in action at St. James Farm on Nov. 2 in their North Central College Red/White Open. Race time is set for 4 pm.
