It’s time for the 15th annual Holiday Hoops basketball tournament for boys!! This year NCYB will work to bring
you the best youth basketball tournament in the midwest.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
Dates: December 3- December 6, 2009
5th-Grade Bracket
6th-Grade Bracket
7th-Grade Bracket
8th-Grade Bracket
First round games will be played either Thursday or Friday evening. Second round games begin Saturday
morning.

Location: North Central College, Merner Fieldhouse

Teams: 16 teams maximum per grade level
5th – 8th grade divisions

GRADE/AGE REQUIREMENTS
5th grade – and no older than 11 at tournament time 6th grade – and no older than 12 at tournament time
7th grade – and no older than 13 at tournament time 8th grade – and no older than 14 at tournament time
Cost: Two game guarantee with a consolation bracket
$155.00 per team

NOTE TO PARK DISTRICT TEAMS - You may send a signed PO along with your entry form. The PO must clearly show payment to NORTH CENTRAL COLLEGE ATHLETICS and be sent to the address listed above. Payment must be received by November 25, 2009. A follow-up packet with complete tournament rules, waiver forms, tournament schedule and directions will be sent November 26, 2009. RULES
2009

1. Coaches
Coaches must present a coaches pass each time they enter the building. Each team will receive two passes. Please use your coaches pass so you will not be delayed at the door. The pass is good for both tournament weekends. Coaches must check-in 15 minutes prior to the first game of the tournament. Tournament check-in will take place at the tables near the concession area. Injury Waiver forms must be turned in at check-in time.

Courts 1, and 2 are on the Main Floor in Gregory Arena Court 3 is in Nichols Gym, upstairs

3. General Information
All teams should come with light and dark shirts. Uniform tops must be the same color for each team member, with a number on it. IF THERE IS A CONFLICT WITH COLORS, TEAMS LISTED ON THE TOP OF THE BRACKET WILL WEAR LIGHT COLORED SHIRTS. Locker room space will NOT be available. Teams should come dressed and prepared to play. TEAMS SHOULD COME WITH THEIR OWN FIRST AID KITS-INCLUDING ICE PACKS. MEDICAL PERSONNEL WILL NOT BE ON-SITE TO TREAT INJURIES. A player may play on only one team per grade level during the tournament. A player may play on an additional team, if the player is playing UP. Under no conditions may a player play down at a lower grade level.

4. Tournament Regulations
Two eighteen (18) minute halves with running clock, except for the last 2 minutes in each half. The clock will then stop for each dead ball and/or whistle. Teams will be allowed five (5) minutes to warm up. Three-point shots and the press are allowed. Two time outs per half. Time outs do not carry over to the second half. Half-time intermission will be 3 minutes long. Overtime is two minutes. First minute is running clock. During the last minute, the clock will stop for each dead ball and/or whistle. Each team will have one time out during overtime. If still tied after one overtime, all remaining OT sessions will be 1 minute in length with the clock stopping on each dead ball and/or whistle. Bonus will be in effect on the 7th team foul, double bonus on the 10th. A technical foul on a player or coach will also be assessed as a personal foul on every team member. Two technicals will mean ejection from the game for the player or coach receiving the technicals. Coaches will receive a warning for misconduct by
parents of their team members. A second parent misconduct will result in a technical foul. All other rules of participation will be in accordance with the current IHSA and NCAA basketball rules. Fifth grade teams will use the 28.5 inch ball. The 6th, 7th, and 8th grade will use the regulation NCAA college ball.

5. Cardinal Youth Basketball Philosophy and Principles
The goal of Cardinal Youth Basketball is to provide young players with competitive team programs in a positive athletic environment. Sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity are the fundamental components of quality athletic activities. To that end, the following principles will govern all Cardinal Youth Basketball activities: Coaches and players are expected to conduct themselves in a sportsman-like manner at all times. Coaches shall use their influence to enhance sportsmanship by their spectators. Profanity, taunting, fighting, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated at any time by any coach, player, parent or spectator. Contest officials shall have the respect and support of the coach. The coach shall not indulge in conduct that will incite players and spectators against the officials. Public criticism of officials is unethical.

In consideration of being allowed to participate in the North Central College “Holiday Hoops” and/or related activities the undersigned:

1. Acknowledges and fully understands that he/she as a participant in the Tournament will be engaging in activities that involve risk of serious injury, including permanent disability and death and severe social and economic losses which might result not only from his/her actions, inactions or negligence, but from the actions, inactions or negligence of others, the rules of play or the conditions of the premises or of any equipment used. Further that there may be other risks not known to North Central College producer, North Central College sponsor, North Central College Operator and North Central College Beneficiary or not reasonably foreseeable at this time;

2. Assumes all the foregoing risks and accepts personal responsibility for the damages following such injury, permanent disability or death;

3. Releases, waives, discharges and covenants not to sue North Central College, the North Central College Producer, North Central College Operator, North Central College Beneficiary or any affiliated clubs or respective administrations, directors, agents, distributors and other employees of these organizations, other participants in this basketball tournament, sponsors, other volunteers, advertisers, owners, and or lessors of premises used to conduct this basketball tournament, all of which are hereinafter referred to as Releasees from any and all liability to the undersigned, his/her heirs and next of kin of any and all claims, demands, losses, or damage to property, caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the Releasees or otherwise;

4. Grants full permission to any and all of the foregoing Releasees to use any photographs, videotapes, motion pictures, recordings or other record of this basketball tournament;

5. Acknowledges that he/she has read and fully understands the foregoing and certifies and represents that the information recorded below is true and correct.
