The 2015-2016 season is off to an exciting start! Our 75 student-musicians have already made this a season to remember with their outstanding commitment and unwavering spirit. As the new director of the Cardinal Athletic Band (CAB), I’m thrilled to be part of the North Central family. Our students are, without a doubt, the finest I’ve ever had the pleasure of leading, and I look forward to guiding and growing the athletic band program for years to come.

As I’m sure you are aware, providing our students with the experience they deserve comes with a price tag. Bands—especially athletic bands—are very expensive to outfit and operate, and the Cardinal Athletic Band is no exception. We continue to require external financial support to meet our basic needs, but this year we find ourselves at a critical juncture. Beyond our normal expenses, many of our instruments and teaching materials need significant overhauls to maintain their usability—this is a cost that cannot be covered by our annual budget.
Additionally, as our program continues to thrive, we have experienced “growing pains.” We have too few instruments to match the number of players. This means we must expand our inventory to allow all interested students to participate. I think you’ll agree that these are “good problems” to have, as they signify that the CAB continues to increase its impact on campus life. This problem is also easily solvable with a financial gift. No matter what dollar amount you can give, every contribution helps!
