Rising Stars

During the 2010-2011 academic year, NCC Athletics piloted a leadership development program for team leaders called Rising Stars.  Due to the positive response of the participants, Rising Stars will continue for the 2011--2012 academic year!

Rising Stars is a program designed specifically for students who desire to have a leadership role on their athletics team.  In some cases, individuals have already been selected to a formal leadership role on their team in other cases, an individual sees themselves fulfilling that role in the future and wants to be prepared.  By completing this program, participants will increase their knowledge of leadership principles and skills, increase awareness of their personal leadership traits that can help positively impact team performance, take ownership of their leadership experience and develop strategies to help students be proactive in helping others.

Utilizing Jeff Jannsen's "Team Captains Leadership Manual", students meet regularly to discuss the written material but to also integrate their experiences and knowledge.  The meetings are based on open discussion and facilitation by the group leader - not lecture.

Session #1 - Rising Stars will meet on Thursdays, beginning October 20 and ending November 17.  Sessions will begin at 2:15pm and last until 3:45pm.  All academic classes (freshman through senior) and athletics ability levels (JV, Varsity) are welcome to attend.  The deadline to register is Friday, October 14, by following this link. http://www.northcentralcardinals.com/sb_output.aspx?form=61
