Ed Jackson is the most accomplished wrestler in the history of North Central College's program. As a coach, he was influential in keeping the program alive. "Ed Jackson helped save the wrestling program," Al Carius, athletic director at the time, said. "He took over and worked for no pay. He loved the school and wrestling that much."
In 1966 and 1969, Jackson was College Conference of Illinois (CCI) Champion at 130 pounds. In 1968, he was CCI Champion and Most Outstanding Wrestler as well as National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) All-American after finishing third at the national meet. In 1969, he was the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Champion and NAIA All-American. He finished his conference career with a 101-9 record.
After graduating with a triple major in business administration, political science and education, Jackson taught government and economics at St. Charles High School for two years. He also coached the North Central wrestling team from 1970-74 and led the team to an 8-1 dual record in 1971-72. Jackson then worked in real estate sales before moving to California to work in computer software manufacturing. He built his own software manufacturing company before becoming an independent broker in the same field.
