Understanding the impact that Megan Allen (Gossett) had on North Central College women's track and field isn't difficult. Simply pick up a copy of this year's media guide and flip through the records. Her name is everywhere. Gossett's expertise was sprinting, and she also flourished with the relay teams.
She's a 12-time NCAA III All-American, excelling in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. In indoor track, Gossett set, and still holds, the school's 300-yard record (38.6, 1987), in addition to the 300m record (42.48, 1989). Her 300-yard time is also a Merner Field House record as is her time as a member of the 4x400m relay. Gossett earned All-America honors at the NCAA III Indoor Championships in the 4x400m relay (1987, 1990) and the 400m run (1990).
In outdoor track, Gossett still holds a North Central record as a member of the 4x200m relay (1:43.6). She was an All-American in the 200m (1990) and as part of the 4x100m relay (1987, 1988, 1990) and 4x400m relay (1988). Gossett also thrived at the conference level, winning the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) 400m title each of her four years of competition. She was a three-time champion in the 200m (1988, 1989, 1990). In the relays, Allen and her teammates made it a four-year sweep in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays, winning every year (1987-90).
Gossett graduated from the College in 1990 with a degree in accounting and later received a master's degree in communication from Illinois State University and a master's in telecommunications management from Keller Graduate School of Management. She also holds a master's certification in project management from George Washington University.
