Current Standings
Mar. 31, 2011 - North Central College is ranked 15th among all NCAA Division III programs in the final winter Learfield Sports Directors' Cup all-sports standings, released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.
The Cardinals finished with 203.5 points during the winter sports season, added to the 160 scored during the fall for a total of 363.5. North Central received 100 points for winning the Division III National Championship in men's indoor track and field, 56.5 points for placing 17th nationally in women's track and field, and 47 points for finishing 26th in wrestling.
North Central ranks first among College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin institutions in the most recent standings. Illinois Wesleyan University is 21st with 330 points, followed by Carthage College (201) in 45th, Wheaton College (171) in 59th, Augustana College (153) in 74th, Elmhurst College (67.5) in 161st and North Park University (50) in 176th place among 277 Division III programs.
Williams College (Mass.) remains atop the standings with 719.5 points, while Middlebury College (Vt.) is second with 664. Washington University (Mo.), Calvin College (Mich.) and Amherst College (Mass.) round out the top five with 649.5, 599.75, and 587 points, respectively.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women's and nine men's.
The first installment of the 2011 spring standings will be released Friday, May 27.
