USTFCCCA Regional Rankings – Week 6
Oct. 22, 2019 – A stellar performance at Saturday's Kollege Town Sports Invitational propelled the North Central College women's cross country team into the No. 5 spot of the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Midwest Rankings, a three-spot improvement form last week. The USTFCCCA released its Week Six Regional Rankings on Tuesday.
Dianne Barajas was the 12th collegiate competitor through the line at Lake Breeze Golf Course as the Cardinals finished seventh in the team standings among 34 competing teams, including seven nationally ranked teams. North Central returns to Lake Breeze Golf Course on Nov. 16 for the Division III Midwest Region Championship.
This week's regional rankings brought a significant shakeup, with all but two teams receiving a new ranking from last week, with North Central now standing as the top-ranked College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) program in the Midwest. Washington University (Mo.)—the winner of Saturday's race with 26 points—took the No. 1 spot, followed by the University of Chicago in second, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in third and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in fourth.
Behind North Central, Wheaton College is sixth, Elmhurst College is seventh, while the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Carroll University and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh round out the top-10, respectively.
North Central looks to carry its momentum into the 2019 CCIW Championships, held Nov. 2 in Rock Island, Illinois.
