Four members of the North Central College community participated in the 2009 NCAA Division III Regional Leadership Conference, held January 23-25, 2009, at the Westin Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. Derek Sulo (football), Anna Wirtz (volleyball) and Kellen Wells-Mangold represented North Central College as a school team and Stevie Baker-Watson, assistant athletic director, served as a facilitator for the conference.

Individuals met in "drum teams", learning about their leadership styles, and worked together to explore common traits of positive leaders. School teams were challenged to develop an action plan for their campus, supporting significant, positive change for the community and campus. In addition, school teams were able to meet as an athletic conference to discuss issues relevant to their own conference.
