Eric Gruber '16 joined the North Central College coaching staff as a graduate assistant coach for the women's basketball program prior to the 2017-2018 academic year.
In addition to his duties at North Central, Gruber currently serves at head coach of the AAU program Chicago Lockdown, entering his third season in 2017-18.
Gruber was a four-year member of the Cardinals' men's golf program from 2012-2016, while also serving as an assistant coach during the 2016-17 season. He competed in three College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship tournaments, highlighted by a 17th-place finish as a junior in 2015, and averaged a career-best stroke average of 78.43 as a senior.
He graduated from North Central in spring 2016 with a bachelor's degree in broadcast communication and will be pursuing a master's degree in leadership studies, with an emphasis in sports leadership. Â While at North Central, he served at sports director at WONC for two years and currently works at NCTV17 in Naperville.
