Parra named CCIW Player of the Week

Jan. 19, 2008 - For her efforts in last week's pair of road victories, North Central College's Brianne Parra (Sr., Justice, Ill./Argo) has been named College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin women's basketball Player of the Week.

Parra led the Cardinals in scoring last week, helping the team win both of their conference games last week. The senior scored 16 points with three boards in the team's 67-60 road win at Augustana on Tuesday. Against Elmhurst on Friday, Parra hit the game winning three-pointer with 25 seconds left, helping the team to the 65-62 win over the Bluejays. Parra came off the bench for the second straight game and led the team with 20 points along with eight rebounds. She finished the week shooting 60.9 percent (14-for-23) from the floor and a perfect seven-for-seven from the charity stripe. Parra also tallied two blocks, two steals and one assist while averaging 18.0 ppg and 5.0 rpg for the week.

The Cardinals (7-6, 2-1 CCIW) return to the hardwood on Tuesday, January 20, hosting North Park University. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
