NGCA Press Release
July 11, 2011 - North Central College women's golfers
Alyssa Gaudio,
Marisa Miko and
Mary Kate Rohn have been honored with selections to the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-American Scholar Team for the 2010-2011 season.
To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must have maintained a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 and competed in at least 66 percent of the team's scheduled rounds during the year. In all, 566 golfers were selected among the three divisions of the NCAA, and North Central's recipients were among 85 honorees from NCAA Division III institutions.
The trio represented nearly half of the honorees from College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) institutions. Augustana College also had three selections, while Millikin University had two.
Gaudio, an exercise science major, received First Team All-America honors from the NGCA this season, making her the first All-American in the history of the Cardinals' women's golf program. She led North Central with an 18-hole stroke average of 79.8 this season, posting six first-place finishes and earning All-CCIW and Academic All-CCIW honors for the fourth straight season. This is her third selection to the NGCA All-American Scholar Team.
Miko finished the 2010-2011 season with a stroke average of 86.5. She placed in the top five in five events, including a fifth-place at the CCIW Championships to earn All-CCIW honors for the first time. A music education major, Miko was also an Academic All-CCIW selection this year.
Rohn averaged 87.9 strokes per round this season, including three top-10 finishes, and earned Academic All-CCIW honors. She is a sport management major.
Gaudio, Miko and Rohn helped lead the Cardinals to the most successful season in the program's history to date, as North Central recorded six first-place finishes, posted a program-best second-place finish at the CCIW Championships, and qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships for the first time.
North Central opens the 2011 fall season Sept. 2, traveling to Zollner Golf Couse in Angola, Ind. for the NCAA Fall Preview Tournament.
