Jan. 9, 2012 - North Central College's Derek Raridon has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 2-8.
Raridon earned the distinction, North Central's first of the season, after leading the Cardinals to victory in their first two CCIW games of the 2011-2012 campaign last week.
In Wednesday's 73-50 victory over Carthage College, Raridon led all scorers with a season-high 24 points, making 9 of 14 shots from the floor and adding three assists. He put up 10 points and three assists on Saturday as North Central traveled to Augustana College and defeated the third-ranked Vikings, 67-62.
A two-time Second Team All-CCIW selection, Raridon has averaged 13.9 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game this season. He became the Cardinals' 23rd 1,000-point scorer on Dec. 17 win a 74-60 victory over Benedictine University.
