2012-2013 D3hoops.com Preseason All-America Teams

Nov. 8, 2012 - North Central College men's basketball players Derek Raridon and Landon Gamble have been honored with selections to the 2012-2013 NCAA Division III Preseason All-America Teams, as selected by D3hoops.com.

Raridon was named to the First Team, while Gamble was selected to the Fourth Team. The four five-man teams and a five-man Honorable Mention list were selected by D3hoops.com's editorial staff and based off of information received from sports information staffs at Division III institutions.

Raridon was joined on the First Team by junior guards D.J. Woodmore of Virginia Wesleyan College and Aaron Toomey of Amherst College (Mass.), junior forward Jared Sudereley of Hartwick College (N.Y.) and senior forward A.J. Matthews of Farmingdale State College (N.Y.)

Raridon was also a Third Team Preseason All-America pick by D3hoops.com in 2010-2011. He is entering his fourth year as a starter for the Cardinals and his third year as a team captain. He is a three-time All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) selection, earning First Team honors last season along with Second Team All-Midwest Region accolades. He became the 23rd player in North Central history to score 1,000 career points last season and enters his senior campaign ranked 12th all-time with 1,241 points.

Gamble, meanwhile, was joined on the Fourth Team by junior guard Ryan Milne of Colorado College, senior guard Alex Berthiaume of Springfield College (Mass.), senior forward Lance Brown of William Paterson University (N.J.) and senior center Noel Hollingsworth of Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Gamble was an Honorable Mention Preseason All-America pick by D3hoops.com last season. He is preparing for his third season as a starter for North Central and has led the Cardinals in scoring in each of the past two seasons. He is a two-time First Team All-CCIW selection and a two-time All-Midwest Region honoree, earning Second Team honors a year ago.

Raridon and Gamble are among four starters who return from last season's team, which finished with an overall record of 22-8, tying the North Central single-season record for victories, and won the CCIW regular-season and tournament championships before advancing to the round of 16 in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship. The Cardinals were ranked  No. 6 in the preseason top 25 poll by D3hoops.com and were the unanimous No. 1 pick in the CCIW Preseason Coaches' Poll.

North Central opens the 2012-2013 season on Nov. 16-17, hosting Illinois Institute of Technology and seventh-ranked Hope College (Mich.) in the Chicago Marriott Naperville Tip-Off Tournament at Gregory Arena.
