USTFCCCA Regional Rankings
Oct. 22, 2013 - The North Central College men's cross country team remains the top-ranked team in the Midwest Region for the seventh straight time, according to the most recent NCAA Division III regional rankings released Tuesday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Cardinals, winners of the past two NCAA Division III National Championships, have won the Division III Midwest Regional Championships each of the past five seasons. North Central is coming off a first-place finish in the 37-team University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational on Saturday. The Cardinals won with a total of just 33 points against a field which included eight nationally-ranked programs.
Washington University in St. Louis has moved up to No. 2 in the region this week followed by last season's regional runner-up, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Also in the top five are th University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Rounding out the top 10 are the University of Chicago, the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Augustana College, Wheaton College and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The current unanimous No. 1-ranked team nationally by the USTFCCCA, North Central will host the 2013 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2 at St. James Farm in Warrenville. The Cardinals will be pursuing their 40th consecutive CCIW team title.
