USTFCCCA National Rankings

Oct. 23, 2013 -
For the seventh straight week, the North Central College men's cross country team still remains the nation's unanimous No. 1-ranked NCAA Division III program. The most recent national Coaches' Top 35 Poll was released Wednesday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Cardinals, winners of the past two NCAA Division III National Championships and three of the last four national titles, once again received all eight first-place votes and the maximum 280 points after posting a first-place finish in the 37-team University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational on Saturday. North Central placed 10 runners among the top 31 overall finishers in the 566-man field, scoring 33 points and defeating this week's No. 2-ranked team, Washington University in St. Louis, by 31 points.

Washington received 272 points this week and is joined in the top five by St. Olaf College (Minn.) with 256, Middlebury College (Vt.) with 255 and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse with 249.

Six of the top 14 teams in this week's rankings reside in the Midwest Region. North Central is one of three College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) teams in the top 35, joined by 30th-ranked Augustana College and 34th-ranked Wheaton College.

The Cardinals have been ranked No. 1 in 41 of the 46 USTFCCCA national polls which have been released since the start of the 2009 campaign.

North Central will host the 2013 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2 at St. James Farm in Warrenville. The Cardinals will be pursuing their 40th consecutive CCIW team title.
